Man in Blue "NASA’s mission Mars"

'NASA’s mission Mars has an Indian touch'

NASA's Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) deputy project scientist is Ashwin Vasavada (in pic) and other two Indians holding key positions are Deborathy Chattopadhya and Gaj Birur.

At Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) hectic preparations are underway for the much awaited landing of the one-tonne Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Curiosity rover on August 5, 2012, near the base of a mountain inside Gale crater (in Mars) close to the Martian equator.

At the moment the MSL, has about 115 million miles to go and is closing at a speed of nearly 13,000mph. Incidentally, the landing date coincides with Neil Armstrong’s birthday, the first man to walk on the moon.

The Great Indian (Solved a 350 year old puzzle)

16 year old Shouryya Ray, an Indian-born German student has solved a 350 year old puzzle, left by Newton. Shouryya Ray worked out how to calculate exactly the path of a projectile under gravity and subject to air resistance, The (London) Sunday Times reported.

The Indian-born teen said he solved the problem that had stumped mathematicians for centuries while working on a school project.

Mr Ray won a research award for his efforts and has been labeled a genius by the German media, but he put it down to "curiosity and schoolboy naivety".

"When it was explained to us that the problems had no solutions, I thought to myself, 'well, there's no harm in trying,'" he said.

Mr Ray's family moved to Germany when he was 12 after his engineer father got a job at a technical college. He said his father instilled in him a "hunger for mathematics" and taught him calculus at the age of six.

Mr Ray's father, Subhashis, said his son's mathematical prowess quickly outstripped his own considerable knowledge.

"He never discussed his project with me before it was finished and the mathematics he used are far beyond my reach," he said.

Despite not speaking a word of German when he arrived, Mr Ray will this week sit Germany's high school leaving exams, two years ahead of his peers.

Newton posed the problem, relating to the movement of projectiles through the air, in the 17th century. Mathematicians had only been able to offer partial solutions until now.

If that wasn't enough of an achievement, Mr Ray has also solved a second problem, dealing with the collision of a body with a wall, that was posed in the 19th century.

Both problems Mr Ray resolved are from the field of dynamics and his solutions are expected to contribute to greater precision in areas such as ballistics

Azim prem ji's comment on reservation

I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for Muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC /ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an SC/ST/OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a SC/ST/OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An SC/ST/OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century. We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our SC/ST/OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an SC/ST/OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal. Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an SC/ST/OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters. There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and politicians (that can really help the country.. ) Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country..) Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward... Let's show the world that INDIA is a GREAT country. Let's be proud of being an INDIAN.. May the good breed of politicians long live..

UK's first Sikh High Sheriff:

NRI to be UK's first Sikh High Sheriff:
Resham Singh Sandhu, a prominent Indian-origin multicultural leader selected as the new High Sheriff of Leicestershire, says he is honoured and a matter of privilege to serve the office.
Sandhu, who was awarded the MBE in 2002, migrated to Leicestershire from Punjab 38 years ago.
He will be the first turban-wearing Sikh in the UK to hold the office of High Sheriff.
"It's a great honour and privilege. This is going to set a good image of Great Britain. People can see that if you really work hard and deserve it, you can become a civic dignitary. It promotes multi-culturalism," he told the media in Leicester.
He added: "My family in Punjab always worked with communities and to help other people. When I came over here I wanted to do the same. I didn't do it because I wanted to be recognised for it - I never expected that".
Sandhu, a former chairman of Leicester's council of faiths, was commissioned in 2006 as the Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Leicestershire. He will wear the same ceremonial uniform for the role of High Sheriff. Sandhu will succeed Colonel Robert Martin in either March or April next year and will be expected to attend royal visits and be entitled to act as a returning officer in parliamentary elections.

>> She has a tested IQ of 225, much higher than the current World record holder(210)

>>She has passed Microsoft Certified Professional and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) with more than 90% when she was just 10 years old - a world record again.

What an Achiever!

Sarita Dwivedi - 19 years of age, from Allahabad, is a physically-challenged girl, (doesn't have both hands, one leg; using an artificial limb), but with many talents!

She is an outstanding artist - SHE PAINTS WITH HER FOOT !!!!. Every painting that she has made has whole lot of expressions and ideas.

Sarita Dwivedi’s life turned upside down when she was four. A power line fell on her. A fighter, she came out of the hospital alive but without her limbs. She walks on artificial legs and has no hands but hasn’t lost hope.

“I use my creativity to overcome my disabilities. I grew up like a normal child and my family has been extremely supportive of me. Whenever, I get free time from studies, I paint."

Her steely resolve to overcome physical challenges and to carve a special niche in painting has earned her National Balshree award (2005), National award for the empowermwnt of PwD (2008, best creative girl child), Godfrey Philips national bravery award(2010), and Silver award from Ministry of Culture Egypt in 2007.

"After my accident, I decided that I will not be a burden for my parents instead do something that will make them feel proud of me. I feel that a disabled person should not consider himself less than anyone else. Infact, they should take up all aspects of life as a challenge and prove that they are no less,'' she emphasises.

INDIA'S I.T SECTOR IS REVOLUTION

US-based Fortune magazine recently compiled a list of 12 greatest entrepreneurs of our time, the list I heavily dominated by American entrepreneurs, but Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy (NRN) finds mention. This is another feather in NRN’s cap and perhaps one that he should feel most proud about. There are many tributes paid to NRN.

This may perhaps be the biggest feather in NRN’s already overflowing cap. The co-founder of Infosys, is the father of India’s IT outsourcing super story and is also known sometimes as India’s Bill Gates. He should be credited with lighting the fuse to India’s success with the services industry and becoming the world’s back-office Enroute, his company distributed its wealth to employees and loads of lucky shareholders.
