Alake Nagabrahma Temple Mangalore Karnataka:


The temple
located in the heart of Mangalore city and is at least 300 years old. This Temple with Shree Nagabrahma has deity is now worshipped by all sections of the society and is known to fulfill the wishes of the devotees in the region. The Specialty of this Temple is that coconuts that are offered to the Temple are not cut by hand. However, they are smashed at a special rock before it is given as an offering to the presiding deity. Legend has it that the rock was taken from the sea only after special prayers to Shree Nagabrahma.Shree Nagabrahma is widely acclaimed to be the chief of all Nagas. Daily pujas are conduced here and for special days like Sankramana, Yugadi, Chauthi and deepavali. The tradition here is that prayers to the deity yields solution.Legend also associate the link between Shree Alake Nagabrahma Temple and Kadri Shree Manjunatheshwara temple. At the Nagakatte here, milk, turmeric are given as offerings and devotees have received blessings which has cured several diseases including skin diseases and poverty.Kallurti and Panjurli Daivasthana is also located here and annual Nemothsavva also takes place. They are supposed to solve the problems of devotees and pujas are conducted in accordance with shastras. Around 25 years ago, Jeernodhara (renovation) of the Temple had taken place in accordance with the specific rituals. The Temple has attracted the attention of its devotees after Brahmakalasha. Road widening is also expected to take place soon so as to enable devotees to reach the place
