On May 25, 1996 the Indian newspaper "Aajkaa"l published how three stray dogs had temporarily protected a newborn girl who was abandoned in the street. When a group of local people realized the facts took her to the police station Burtolla, the three dogs followed the police to the station to try to protect the baby.
