Tower of victory built by Mewar king Rana Kumbha
between 1442 AD and 1449 AD to commemorate his victory over the combined
armies of Mewar and Gujarat led by Mahmud Khilji. Rana Kumbha held the
Indian flag flying high in an age when several Indian kings like
Kapilendradeva of east India, Deva Raya II of south India and Man Singh
Tomar of central India defeated the Turkic invaders in different parts
of India and expanded their kingdoms!!
There are many inscriptions
Verse 20: He also destroyed other lowly Muslim rulers (of the neighborhood). He uprooted Nagaur.
Verse 21: He rescued twelve lakh cows from the Muslim possession and converted Nagaur into a safe pasture for them. He brought Nagaur under the control of the Brahmanas and secured cows and Brahmanas in this land.
Verse 22: Nagaur was centre of the Muslims. Kumbha uprooted this tree of evil. Its branches and leaveswere automatically destroyed.
